Hi there! I’m Tracy Scott and one of the Coaches at ChicBoxing in Bracebridge.

I was once like you. Actually, I was probably in a worse place. I was overweight for most of my teenage years and the weight piled on through adulthood as I focused on my career. I used to think that if I was fit (i.e., thin), I would be healthy. I thought my Type 2 diabetes would disappear, my resting heart rate would decrease and I wouldn’t be plagued by all of the aches and pains I was experiencing. I thought that because I could play baseball and curl at a competitive level, I was relatively healthy and didn’t need to focus on losing the weight.

I finally admitted that I needed help and started my journey to become healthy. I discovered a lot of things along the way and have fully embraces what is meant by the mind-body connection. You can’t fix one without the other. I’m not one to focus on the scale or the size of my clothes. I’m actually more concerned with functional fitness because we don’t all necessarily want to be athletes. Functional fitness is your ability to perform everyday activities safely and efficiently.

Health is a dynamic process because it is always changing. I think it’s important that we talk about the link between your physical health and your optimal health. We all know that when we get regular physical activity, we experience a positive effect on our overall health and well-being. This in turn gives us more self-confidence, more energy and a positive attitude. Regular exercise also allows us to experience less disease and illness and enjoy more of the benefits of being active.

I became a Personal Training Specialist and ChicBoxing Coach so I can share my insights with women just like you. Our bodies are designed for movement and I love showing you the strength within when you start kickboxing.
